Washington Freedom End Season as MLC Runner-Up

Washington Freedom’s historic 2026 season ended in heartbreaking fashion, with the team falling just one run short against the Los Angeles Knight Riders in the Major League Cricket championship match at the Oakland Coliseum.

After reaching the final for a third consecutive season, Freedom battled to the very last delivery. Obus Pienaar’s explosive 53 from 24 balls brought the team within arm’s reach of the title, but the Knight Riders held on for a narrow 164–163 victory.

Though the season ended just shy of another championship, Washington Freedom’s resilience, togetherness, and ability to perform under pressure once again placed the team among Major League Cricket’s best.
